Edgeworth: You act as though you did not use such a tactic yourself for the opposite outcome. Should it not be her own choice either way?
Althea renews her glare at Edgeworth. "Are you blind to the fact that she's only contemplating it out of compassion for you and not because she actually believes it's her responsibility to condemn the Trust?"
Edgeworth glares back reflexively. "Do you believe that she lacks the ability to make responsible decisions based on her own values?"
Althea: Excuse me, but did you not witness the same thing I did last night?
Edgeworth huffs a frustrated sigh. "In that case, she was acting on a flawed understanding of the situation."
Althea puts a hand to her forehead.
Althea: She made an implicit gesture of trust in her efforts to help you. You may not have meant to, but you violated that trust in how you reacted.
Althea: Even so, she took the blame for that on herself, citing simple impulsiveness. And now she sees you hurting over this, and she can't offer comfort the way she normally would. So she makes another impulsive gesture to try to make you feel less alone. And if that gesture costs her her home and her occupation and separates her from her family, she might not blame you, but that doesn't mean anyone else wouldn't.
